Post-season Basketball Pep Rally

Published Saturday, March 13, 2010 3:00 pm

March 12th marked the beginning of post-season basketball for many of St. Agnes' basketball teams. The school has girls and boys squads on both the JV (5th and 6th grade) and varsity (7th and 8th grade) levels. Two teams, a varsity boys and a varsity girls team, have advanced to post-season playoffs in hopes of winning the coveted championship.

Friday, before playoffs began, the school celebrated the season with the traditional student vs. teacher basketball game in the gym. The entire student body and the teams came out for this event. Younger students made signs and cheered on their teachers, while the junior high students rooted for their peers. After an intense game that went into double overtime, the teachers eked out a victory, 37-33.

"Pep rallies give the school a chance to come together in one place, to see each other, and to grow to know each other better," says teacher Elizabeth Spitznagel. Other school-wide events this year included wacky races, Christmas Pageant, and a Mexican Heritage Presentation. The annual spring musical will take place in May.
